Garbage Island and Homecoming
A new SAFT reading book called The Garbage Island and an accompanying interactive play called The Homecoming were published in 2011. The book tells a funny story of a family vacation but addresses serious issues like online bullying, responsible online conduct and “green matters”; i.e. how to dispose and recycle mobile phones and computers. The storyline of the interactive play starts were the reading book ends. The characters in the book are faced with a problem concerning online bullying and the audience are involved in directing the actors, trying to resolve the problems the family is faced with and look for a positive ending. The play is accompanied by a peer 2 peer talk from a Youth Panellist.
