Youth participation in the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) agenda allows young people to express their views and exchange knowledge and experiences concerning their use of online technologies, as well as tips on how to stay safe.

They also advise on internet safety and empowerment strategy, help create innovative resources and disseminate eSafety messages to their peers.

World Mental Health Day – Young people and mental health in a changing world

Wednesday, 10 October 2018, is World Mental Health Day. Launched in 1992 by the World Health Organisation (WHO), this initiative seeks to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world. This year's theme is "Young people and mental health in a changing world".

The Digital Youth Forum – an inspiring event for young people

The Digital Youth Forum (DYF) is an event designed for youth, by youth and about youth. Hosted in Warsaw, Poland, it takes the form of a conference that focusses on online safety and creative and innovative uses of new technologies as an alternative to risky online behaviours. It is organised as a one-day event, consisting of three 90-minute sessions (each with five presentations), each followed by 50-minute breaks for exploring the exhibition area. Three editions have been already been organised by the Empowering Children Foundation in the framework of the Polish Safer Internet Centre (SIC). Last year, a total of 450 participants attended the event, 400 of which were teenagers aged 14–17.

Microsoft study shows teens are looking to parents for help with online issues

Microsoft's latest study, called "Civility, Safety and Interaction Online – 2018", shows an encouraging development in online safety. Indeed, there has been a stark increase in the numbers of teenagers turning to their parents and other trusted adults to solve online problems.

Microsoft's Council for Digital Good calls on US policymakers to promote digital civility
