The event drew more than 220 participants, including representatives from the police, prosecutors' offices, courts, social services, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), education and industry. The event was hosted at the Faculty of Social Science where the Spletno oko Hotline is also based.

The conference opened with speeches from the co-organisers of the event: Dr. Katja Lozar Manfreda, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Mag. Boštjan Lindav, Director of the Criminal Police Directorate; and Nenad Šutanovac, Director of the Association for Informatics and Telecommunications at the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia.

In the plenary lecture, Dr. Ethel Quayle, Professor of Forensic Clinical Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, presented recent research on e-abuse and the importance of her findings for preventive measures. In particular she emphasised two points:

  • Adults and children have a different conception of what abuse is.
  • The younger the children, the worse the form of abuse.

After Dr. Quayle's lecture, the Slovenian hotline organised different workshops, aiming to give participants the tools to deal properly with online issues and harmful online content.
