Depictions of children in sexualised poses: Research outcomes

In a systematic study of the circulation route of the depictions of sexualised poses on the internet, jugendschutz.net evaluated 772 sources and concluded that the pedosexual online group is operating in an exclusive network.

The content was easy to find using typical keywords (such as "candydolls", "preteen models", or "boylover") and in 99.5 per cent of the cases it was freely accessible. This network uses social media services to exchange images, post sexualised comments, or advertise its offers, often without any interference from the platform operators. Frequently, in profiles visible to the public, there were invitations to exchange images via WhatsApp or Kik Messenger.

A huge amount of content including drastic posing (such as photos of very young children) as well as commercial offers were found on websites supposedly advertising child models. In forums, sexualised poses were often posted in combination with depictions of child sexual abuse and made accessible indirectly via file hosting services.

jugendschutz.net was successful in eliminating 90 per cent of these sexualised poses. However, ongoing international strategies are a must towards combating the circulation of such material and ensuring that it is deleted quickly.
