On Safer Internet Day 2019, German hotline partner FSM published two awareness-raising videos and organised a live interactive talk.

One video focused on the key message to the German public to report illegal and harmful online content to the FSM hotline. Internet users are encouraged to use the hotline's complaints form whenever they come across such content online.

Another video statement highlights FSM's joint engagement with other organisations to promote a safer and better internet for children and young people.

Several institutions work together within the German Safer Internet Centre (SIC): the hotlines of FSM, eco and jugendschutz.net, where illegal content can be reported, the awareness centre klicksafe and the helpline Nummer gegen Kummer. The purpose of the video was to encourage the public to take advantage of these diverse resources and contribute to a better internet for children.

On the evening of Safer Internet Day (SID), GMK (Professional Association for Media Education, and Media Literacy and Communication Culture in Germany) and FSM discussed the main topics of SID with experts during an interactive talk ("Medienpädagogischer Küchentalk") in Berlin and via Facebook and Twitter livestream: How do children and youth media protection and active participation of children and young people in digital media fit together? The audience in Berlin and online were invited to share their views and get actively involved with the panellists.

These videos have been viewed more than 4,000 times and the communication activities reached over 13,300 impressions on Twitter on SID.
