Saferinternet.at, the Austrian awareness centre, considers the digi.komp initiative to be very useful as it makes an important contribution to our common goals: making the internet a better place for children and young people. After all, children and young people need digital skills to be able to use the internet and make it better.
-
Handbook for teachers – Saferinternet.at provides a handbook for teachers, full of ideas for activities in class as well as the teachers' own digital life. Topics addressed include changes in society due to the emergence of the information society, future professions, motivating students by using digital technology, enabling team teaching and school development.
It was evident – especially in Austrian school networks such as the e-learning initiative eLSA – that organisational development, such as school development, plays a major role in assuring that digital technologies are used and that kids acquire better digital skills.

- Classroom activities for teachers – Since 2013, all classroom activities in Saferinternet.at's teachers' handbooks have included corresponding digital competences as published at digikomp.at. This approach ensures that teachers use more of Saferinternet.at's classroom activities in order to integrate digital competences.
- Training for teachers – As it is vital for teachers to know which recent online trends might affect their daily work in class, Saferinternet.at offers special trainings for teachers. These workshops provide information on digital trends as well as relevant classroom activities and aim to identify possibilities that may be easily implemented.
