    • Don't get bored while you're at home. Now that we need to stay at home and our social interactions are limited to immediate family members, it is important to make the most of our free time. Safe.si has prepared a selection of websites where you can discover something interesting, have fun or even learn something.
  • How to respond to online risks under the COVID-19 pandemic

    • Press release: Safe on the internet during the coronavirus outbreak. Slovenia is in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kindergartens, schools and colleges are closed, and children and teenagers are staying at home. This is a very difficult period for them, as they are used to daily socialising with peers. Social networks and messaging apps can replace socialising to some extent, but there are some risks and pitfalls to be wary of. Safe.si explains some of them.
    • Think carefully before you believe every coronavirus post. There is a lot of inaccurate or intentionally misleading information about the COVID-19 pandemic online, especially on social media platforms and in the comments section under media articles. In this situation, we need to think carefully whether we can really trust a post or not. This article compiles some tips to help. 
    • Social media is full of lies and unverified coronavirus information. There is a wealth of doubtful information about the COVID-19 pandemic online. Many videos and articles from mistrustful online portals spread half-truths or lies misleading readers and viewers and, in some cases, even endangering lives. Safe.si explores the issue further.
    • Safe work from home. Many people are working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, which can increase exposure to online scams and attacks. This article provides some tips to ensure safer remote working.
    • Be careful with online contacts and offers that are too good to be true. We are spending more time on the internet and social networks during the coronavirus pandemic. Many fraudsters are taking advantage of this situation, for example by trying to trick users into sending them intimate photos or other personally identifiable information, offering them fake sweepstakes, directing them to fake online stores, or committing other types of fraud. Safe.si offers tips to avoid becoming a victim.
    • Press release: Do not trust everybody and everything you find on the web. There are many attempts of unknown people trying to contact children and teenagers to trick them into sending naked pictures or videos. There are also many fake news stories connected to COVID-19. Safe.si advises users not to believe everyone and everything they find on the internet.
    • Safe at home without getting bored during epidemics COVID-19. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are forced to stay at home and have as little physical contact with others as possible. The internet provides us with countless opportunities for communicating and learning, but we still need to be careful when we use it because all of the usual pitfalls and risks still remain, and many new have emerged. Safe.si offers links to articles, tools, videos and other resources on safe and creative use of the web, for children, teenagers, parents and teachers.
    • Webinar "Safe internet use for teachers". Professors Tjaša Jerman Kuželički and Benjamin Lesjak hosted a webinar on 16 April 2020 during which they discussed the importance of safe use of the internet in schools, and its legal aspects.
  • Emergency remote teaching

    • Webinar: Safe internet use for teachers. Schools in Slovenia have been closed since Monday, 16 March 2020 due to coronavirus crisis. Since then, teachers have had to start teaching from home, online, literally overnight. As there were no national guidelines, schools and teachers faced difficult challenges – how to organise their lessons to be productive, useful and in accordance with the law. Slovenian Awareness Centre Safe.si held a webinar on the topic of safe internet use, focusing on teleworking in education, on 16 April 2020. The recording is available on Safe.si website.
  • Tech companies response to the COVID-19 pandemic

    • Social networks fight actively against false coronavirus information. A lot of useful information about the COVID-19 is circulating on social media. However, there are also many misleading or untrue messages, conspiracy theories and lies that can harm individuals or society as a whole. As a result, social media platforms have actively engaged in the fight against misinformation about the pandemic.

The Slovenian Safer Internet Centre also provides helpline services allowing children and young people, and parents and carers to access personalised advice and support. Equally, it provides a hotline for reporting any illegal content you mind find online. Don't hesitate to contact them in case of need!
