From Thursday, 21 until Sunday, 24 November 2019, the Portuguse Safer Internet Centre (SIC), through its consortium organisation, the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude (IPDJ), attended the Lisbon Games Week, the biggest event on video games, gaming, gamification, eSports and educational games in Portugal.

The IPDJ held a stand, where young people, teachers and parents, could

  • participate in the "Play for the Environment" quiz, and find out if they contribute to a greener internet;
  • learn how to be safer on the internet;
  • reflect on the reality of cybercrime in Portugal;
  • discover the Portuguese SIC's helpline and hotline services, how to report and get help;
  • and receive information, materials and much more.

In total, 272 people took the quiz, which represented a great opportunity for the Portuguese SIC to discuss with visitors the environmental impact of the internet, an issue that was new for most.

The Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima (APAV) – also a member of the Portuguese SIC –  also participated in the Lisbon Games Week, through the organization of an exhibition titled "Weapons of the 21st century". This exhibition aimed to make people aware of how the scale of cybercrime in Portugal and how they can protect themselves against this phenomenon, and help others do so.
