Between November 2019 and December 2020, the Italian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) will run seven educational and awareness-raising seminars targeted to youth professionals (social workers, paediatricians, psychologists and teachers, as well as all those professionals involved in child protection issues).

These seminars aim to deepen understanding of the current challenges to children's rights in the digital age in terms of privacy, protection, participation and freedom.

The purpose of the second seminar "Using digital technologies to promote inclusive practices in education" is to provide educators and youth professionals with a detailed insight of how to support the learning of children and young people with special educational needs by using digital technologies within the learning environment.

The main aims of this seminar – which is free of charge – are to:

  • summarise the evidence from research, policy and practice for the promotion of inclusive practices in the education sector;
  • provide in-depth examinations of the uses of ICT as a teaching tool to promote inclusion;
  • illustrate the potential impact digital technologies can make by widening access to learning and making new approaches to learning possible.
