Growing up online with the Web We Want!

To mark Safer Internet Day (SID), European Schoolnet, Google and Liberty Global have created a new social media campaign aimed at raising awareness of the engaging Web We Want resource for teachers.

The new social media campaign aims to raise awareness of the free lesson plans and guidance for teachers. For teens, the lines between the web and the world are blurred. The web is just a part of their reality. For teachers, keeping up with the latest internet trends and terminology can feel like an impossible race. But teaching teenagers about the online world isn't much different from teaching them about the offline world. Teaching the 'Web We Want' isn't about LOLs and likes, it's about lessons for life. The site covers topics such as freedom of expression, thinking before you post, online and offline values, who you share content with, identity deception and privacy protection.

The content was specifically designed for teachers by teachers, to support teachers and ensure the content is relevant, engaging and digestible for young people. The resource also houses a free handbook for teens, a free handbook for teachers with lesson plans and worksheets. The tool is available in multiple languages: simply visit www.webwewant.eu.
