The Greek Safer Internet Centre is celebrating the start of the new school year by publishing new digital material for every educational grade, on the SaferInternet4Kids platform. The "Back to school 2019" package can be used as a tool in the classroom or at home to strengthen children's knowledge of how to navigate safely online.

Emphasis is given on the body image teenagers build through their engagement with social media, without missing out on other critical issues such as excessive use of the internet, online games, cyberbullying, contacts with strangers, and so on.

Social media affects the way teenagers view their bodies. Through a booklet and a lesson plan, children learn to appreciate diversity and understand that staying healthy is the goal and that a health body comes in all shapes, colours, and sizes!

Educational material has been created for this age group on how children can learn to protect themselves on social media.

For children aged 10-12, emphasis is given on why they should not create profiles on social media at such a young age. Through quizzes, posters and presentations, children learn about being cautious on social media and online gaming, and how to keep only the positive aspects of technology.

For smaller children aged 5-9, the famous adventures of @Παπάκη (Digiduck) are back, this time with a new story that teaches them that anyone on the internet can give a false identity and thus they have to be very careful with who they talk and share their personal data with on the internet. At the same time, through quizzes and various games, young children learn how to navigate safely.
