A look into the "CYberSafety – Better Internet for Kids" project in Cyprus

In Cyprus, from September 2017 to June 2018, within the framework of the European co-funded project "CYberSafety – Better Internet for Kids" (National Awareness Centre), the project partners held lectures, seminars and workshops for pupils, teachers and parents.

The following bodies contributed in the related actions: the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, the Cyprus Radio-Television Authority, the Office of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulations (OCECPR), the University of Cyprus, the Pancyprian Parents School, the Office for Combating Cybercrime, the Cyprus Police, the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) and MTN Cyprus LTD.

In the framework of the lectures, seminars and workshops (attached to the ANNEX), 433 actions were carried out in total, involving 19,870 pupils, 1,059 teachers and 2,031 parents. In these actions, the participating pupils, teachers and parents were given the opportunity to be introduced and trained on issues with regard to the opportunities and risks of the internet (such as cyberbullying, excessive use of digital devices, deception), thereby promoting a safer online culture and empowering creative and critically thinking citizens. At the same time, the project' partners had the opportunity to inform all the participants (pupils, teachers and parents) with regard to the operation and services of Helpline 1480.

Training day for CyberSafety Youth Panel in Cyprus

Within the framework of the European co-funded project ‘CΥberSafety – Better Internet for Kids' (https://www.cybersafety.cy/)  the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education and Culture organised a training day for the members of the CYberSafety Youth Panel, Cyprus. The training day was held at the campus of the University of Cyprus in Nicosia on Saturday, 2 February 2019, and was attended by forty students. 

Cyprus - Creative workshops on online safety

Last summer, the Cypriot Safer Internet Centre (SIC) organised awareness-raising workshops on online safety during children camps, on themes such as cyberbullying, screen time management and data collection, reaching in total almost 2,000 children.
