The Greek Safer Internet Centre and the Greek Ministry of Education are carrying out a large survey on children's habits online. The results will be presented for the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2019.

The Greek Safer Internet Center (SIC), under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of Greece, is trying to map the online habits of primary and secondary school students through an online survey that has begun in 400 schools around the country.

This is the first effort to do this survey in Greece and with sample of students this large. The process is simple. Through an online questionnaire, students are required to respond anonymously about their online habits, their preferences and the risks they have faced. They also give their own suggestions on how they perceive online safety, and how education about online safety issue can be made more effective.

The goal of the Greek Safer Internet Center is to get a representative picture of the needs of children regarding the adoption of safe practices online. Thanks to this, the entire activity of the Greek SIC will clearly be more targeted and therefore even more effective.

At the same time, the findings of the research will be a very useful tool for the Greek Ministry of Education, since it will learn, through a very representative sample, what the real needs of the students are and which points teachers should focus on.

The research will finish on 20 December 2018 and its results will be announced on 5 February 2019 at the central event organised by the Greek SIC at the Amphitheater of the Greek Ministry of Education for the celebration of Safer Internet Day 2019.
