Last summer, the Cypriot Safer Internet Centre (SIC) organised awareness-raising workshops on online safety during children camps, on themes such as cyberbullying, screen time management and data collection, reaching in total almost 2,000 children.

Within the framework of the European co-funded project "CyberSafety – Better Internet for Kids" (the national awareness centre), the Department of Educational Technology of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute (CPI) organised, for a second year, a series of 17 workshops on online safety. These were organised in cooperation with the Pancyprian Parents School and the Church of Paphos near Agia Moni, between 2 July 2018 and 20 August 2018.

In the framework of the workshops, 1,692 children and 150 counsellors or teachers from all over Cyprus were informed about the opportunities and risks of the internet, and the operation of Helpline 1480. Through exploratory and active learning, the participants were given the opportunity to discuss topics such as cyberbullying, excessive use of digital technologies and the internet, managing personal data on the internet, and overcoming internet challenges by making good choices, in a critical and creative way.
