The Slovenian Safer Internet Centre (SIC), SAFE.SI, organised an award competition for primary school pupils in the school year 2017/18. The pupils participated with fine arts, comics and videos. On 30 May 2018, the winners were invited to a final event in Ljubljana.

The pupils competed in three categories:

  • Sejfko fine arts competition: "Sejfko helps me use the internet and mobile phones safely." SAFE.SI received 103 art projects from 26 schools, created by 215 pupils under the guidance of 29 mentors.
  • SAFE.SI comic competition: "Behaviour and communication online - it's nice if you are friendly online!" SAFE.SI received 144 comics from 43 schools, created by 234 pupils under the guidance of 54 mentors.
  • SAFE.SI video competition: "Behaviour and communication online - it's nice if you are friendly online!" SAFE.SI received 37 videos from 28 schools, made by 158 students under the guidance of 31 mentors.

The expert jury based its evaluation on three criteria: creativity, innovation and usefulness. The three best projects in each category received an award. The pupils who received an award and their mentors were invited to the closing event on 30 May 2018, where SAFE.SI announced the final winners.

The winners visited the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia and participated in workshops. Following that, they attended the award ceremony and had dinner in Čolnarna Park Tivoli.

You can watch the winning video for the third category, called "Nevedna Frida" (Ignorant Frida – with English subtitles), on the website of SAFE.SI. It shows the story of a young job-seeker called Frida who cannot get a job because she is unaware that potential employers have direct access to the inappropriate content she has posted online. The video shows how important it is for young people to take care of their digital footprint.
