Get Online Week in Czechia

Get Online Week (GOW) is an annual digital empowerment campaign in Europe that engages and encourages people to use technology and the internet with confidence and with skills that allow them to benefit from the world of online opportunities. Supported by corporations, NGOs and public authorities, the campaign is organised each year in March by Telecentre Europe (TE), an umbrella organisation that represents European networks of ICT learning centres.

The Czech Republic has celebrated GOW since 2014. This year, the campaign organisers in Czechia have chosen two issues to focus on: cybersecurity and eServices. Both are interconnected with the common theme being privacy and data protection. People often contact the Czech Safer Internet Centre (SIC CZ) and its helpline (Pomoconline.cz) with issues relating to the protection of privacy on social networks. Hence the new safety centres of Facebook (including the Facebook privacy basics resource) and YouTube will be promoted during the GOW 2017 campaign.

An interesting set of tools and resources are recommended for use during GOW 2017 which include tests, training and learning tools, and teaching activities of Mozilla. In addition, in Czechia, NCBI (a partner in the Czech Safer Internet Centre) is trying to empower people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship, promoting those tools as well as the I-LINC online platform where you can find even more interesting incentives and new partners for your projects.
