COFACE-Families Europe - February newsletter now published
- COFACE-Families Europe
COFACE-Families Europe has recently published the February 2017 edition of its newsletter.
As part of recent Safer Internet Day (SID) 2017 celebrations, COFACE-Families Europe encouraged people to "Take back the internet!". Senior policy officer, Martin Schmalzried, looks at ways we can take back control of our digital footprint and protect our data. He focuses on collective initiatives financed directly by users and designed in the interest of users as well as highlighting specific tools and platforms.
Also in this edition, the risks and opportunities for children online are examined in a piece written for the LSE blog entitled 'Follow the Money', which has now also been translated into Portuguese by the Criança e Consumo (Child & Consumption) project. The article argues that business models that rely on users' time to generate revenue could also contribute to corrupting online content, especially involving children. The original article can be viewed here.
