This event was part of the IPDJ's activity plan within the Portuguese Safer Centre (SIC) and was organised in collaboration the Portuguese Federation for eSports (FEPODELE).

The following themes were featured:

  • gaming and gamification;
  • addition to video games;
  • myths about the gaming practice;
  • benefits and risks of video games;
  • and strategies for parents and educators.

The brochure "Guia Para Pais – Mundo dos videojogos, riscos e benefícios" (in English, "Guide for Parents – The world of video games, risks and benefits"), developed by the Portuguese SIC and FEPODELE, was used as a supporting resource throughout the workshop, for information and activities.

The workshop was attended by 25 people, youth workers, teachers and educators. Participants' evaluation was very positive, and they asked for more actions like this.

A similar workshop is already in preparation for February 2020, on the occasion of Safer Internet Day 2020 celebrations, which is taking place on Tuesday, 11 February 2020. The workshop will this time be organised in the south of the country, in Faro.
