The Greek SIC has recently published a parental guide on how to protect kids online, which covers a range of topics. The guide offers parents the knowledge they need in order to help their children have positive online experiences and offers information and advice on how to talk about the advantages and disadvantage of the digital world. It provides a complete guide for the key tools parents can use in their efforts to keep their children safe online and guidelines on how to protect children from the main risks that may be encountered when using social media. Other issues include cyberbullying, excessive internet use, protection of personal data and online reputation. You can read the parents' guide here.

For the security of children, the Greek Safer Internet Centre suggests that parents should supervise children's online activities in a discreet way. For this reason, the Greek SIC has produced a comprehensive installation guide of parental tools for the most popular browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari) and for the Google Search Engine. You can read the guide here.

It is well known that the internet is not always a safe and well-meaning place for everyone, since online criminals and intruders lurk, trying to create problems. The spread of malicious programmes, such as viruses, can cause serious damage to computers and data. You can learn what a malicious programme is and how you can be protected by properly installing an antivirus through the specialised guide "Safety tips against viruses" from the Greek Safer Internet Centre. You can read the guide here.

Furthermore, at the beginning of the new school year, the Greek Safer Internet Centre will publish three informative packages on online safety for very small children, children and teens. The specific material includes illustrated stories with advice, informative guides, posters, quizzes and an animated video for cyberbullying with Athina and Hermes. Watch the video on YouTube here.
