  • How to respond to online risks under the COVID-19 pandemic

    • How to use the internet safely in the wake of a coronavirus pandemic. We are living in unprecedented times. As schools close and people are confined to their homes due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we are using the internet and online services more now than perhaps ever before. Being online is providing a lifeline for everyone in society from the young to the old, learners and workers, and the vulnerable, curious and those seeking an escape from boredom. This is probably, therefore, a good time to remind ourselves of a few key points to keep safe online.
  • Emergency remote teaching

    • Tips for teachers and parents to help children learn safely and effectively online. Since emergency remote learning started in Lithuania, children spend a lot of time online. Organising online lessons creates new challenges for both students and teachers. The Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT), together with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania and the National Education Agency, have prepared recommendations for teachers on how to conduct remote lessons safely and effectively. RRT has also prepared tips for parents on how to help their children stay safe online during this special period.
    • Let's act responsibly through distance learning. The National Education Agency, in co-operation with the Lithuanian police, has developed recommendations for parents and teachers to carry out distance learning in a safe way.
    • Recommendations for school staff on how to deal with a crisis situation. A video with recommendations for school administrators, teachers, educators and other school staff to help them adapt to a crisis situation: how to gather information, reduce stress, work remotely, take care of colleagues, and so on.

The Lithuanian Safer Internet Centre also provides helpline services allowing children and young people, and parents and carers to access personalised advice and support. Equally, it provides a hotline for reporting any illegal content you mind find online. Don't hesitate to contact them in case of need!

In addition, we'll be bringing you a range of articles and insights on the opportunities and challenges of being online during COVID-19 in the coming days and weeks.
