A noteworthy example in this sense are the "Internet: Safe & Fun" workshops meant to teach children that the internet can be both full of positive opportunities and risks. Presented as a fun world of possibilities, but not devoid of safety risks, the workshops try to teach children how to behave and cope with unpleasant situations on the internet. Every year, Proximus, in collaboration with Microsoft, offers awareness-raising workshops in primary schools all across Belgium. The workshops are run by volunteer employees from proximus and Microsoft.

Child Focus contributes to this process by developing teaching materials and by training staff volunteers. Each year, more than 150 people have been involved in this vast prevention programme through which over 12,000 children are informed about online safety issues. This awareness campaign takes place on two fixed days every school year.

More information about the workshops is available on www.safer-internettrainings.be.
