The task of an Ambassador (lecturer) is to give, to the best extent possible, lectures on online safety to their region's/ district's children, parents and teachers, providing information on the risks and threats, and how to avoid them.

In August 2018, the Latvian SIC organised a second training course for the Ambassadors, involving in the programme 17 new Safer Internet Ambassadors from different cities, towns and regions.

Every year, one training course is organised for the Ambassadors to educate them on various aspects of online safety and media literacy. Experts of the Latvian SIC and Helpline 116111, a psychologist and other experts of this field provided presentations. Every year, there is a different course depending on the current risks and threats that children face online and their internet usage habits and online activities.

The Latvian SIC cooperates with the Ambassadors by informing them about the latest training materials developed, organised activities, prepared articles, educational videos and so on. Ambassadors can use these resources to educate children, parents and teachers on internet safety. The Latvian SIC also provides support to the Ambassadors if they need to prepare a presentation, to select topics and material for training. The SIC also informs the Ambassadors about the latest trends in the use of modern technologies by children and the youth.

The Ambassadors report to the SIC about their lectures and the audience reached, and they share their experience and recommendations on the Ambassadors' work. They also interact, sharing ideas, lecture topics, and training methods to make lectures on online safety exciting and interesting for children.

In 2017, the Ambassadors educated 6,598 persons, including 465 parents, 429 teachers and 5,704 children.

The SIC has developed for the Safer Internet Ambassadors Programme a special logo, and every Ambassador is granted a t-shirt with the logo printed on it. When an Ambassador goes to people in his region and tells them about internet safety issues, the logo symbolises and serves as an identification mark of this initiative.
