It was very interesting for the young attendees to see how easy it is to extract information from a radio-frequency identification (RFID) enabled credit card using a simple application. They also saw how easily facial recognition technology can be deceived.
The exhibition, already popular in cities such as London and New York, was conceived by Tactical Technology and Mozilla Foundation. Visitors to this smaller-scale variant in Luxembourg welcomed the interactive nature of the exhibition.
During a Digital Privacy Salon on the Wednesday of the week and after an Open Door event on the Saturday, two IoT and big data experts took the visitors on a tour. They were able to tell exciting stories about what was happening behind the scenes on the internet.
Children and hobbyists had the opportunity to test Tubes and Panopticon, two board games developed by BEE SECURE, while creative visitors were able to make their own Faraday smartphone cases.
Each visitor to the Glass Room Experience received a Data Detox Kit, which aims to reduce data traces online and help users adopt a more balanced digital lifestyle in only eight steps.
