Introducing Ora de Net - Romanian Safer Internet Programme name change

The Safer Internet Programme was established in Romania in 2008, with funding from the European Commission (EC), in the aim of promoting the use of the internet by children and adolescents in a creative, useful and safe way. The project materialised through the partnership between Save the Children and Focus Romania, which ensured the operation of the Safernet Hotline.

Training for trainers on "Useful, creative and safe use of the internet by children" in Romania

"Childhood in the digital age: Excessive time behind the screens" conference in Romania

According to the latest study conducted by Save the Children Romania for the Romanian Safer Internet Centre, 31 per cent of Romanian children spent less time with their family, friends or doing things for school in order to stay on the internet, and 28 per cent of children say they tried, without succeeding, to spend less time on the internet.

Can technology and digital education rescue the Romanian educational system?

According to multiple studies, around 40 per cent of Romanian pupils are functional illiterates, meaning that they can read and write, but cannot understand or interpret the content. This is the highest rate in the EU, with high implications on the future workforce and long-term productivity. Economic interpretations show that this issue strongly affects the country's GDP.
