Safe remote learning and teaching in times of lockdown

In times of lockdown, emergency remote teaching and learning has become the new normal. To ensure that this is carried out in a safe and secure way, the Portuguese Safer Internet Centre launched a campaign targeted to students on national television, and a series of webinars on the topic for teachers.

Seminar for Slovenian teachers on safe internet use in times of COVID-19

Schools in Slovenia have been closed since Monday, 16 March 2020 due to coronavirus crisis. Since then, teachers have had to start teaching from home, online, literally overnight. As there were no national guidelines, schools and teachers faced difficult challenges – how to organise their lessons to be productive, useful and in accordance with the law. Slovenian Awareness Centre Safe.si started receiving questions from teachers and other school professionals on safe teleworking. To answer this increasing demand, on Thursday, 16 April 2020, the Slovenian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) held a webinar on the topic of safe internet use, focusing on teleworking in education, attracting over 580 participants.

Safety recommendations for distance learning for Portuguese schools

The Directorate-General for Education from the Portuguese Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Centre and the National Data Protection Commission, have produced a set of recommendations and guidelines for teachers and educators to abide by when using digital technologies to support distance learning.

European Schoolnet and COVID-19 – Supporting the school community

In these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown measures, digital technologies and emergency remote teaching are playing a key role in meeting the needs of learners, teachers and families. European Schoolnet (EUN) and all its projects – among which the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) project, delivered on behalf of the European Commission, is one – are taking stock of the current situation and working hard to keep transforming education in Europe from home.
