On Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018 (Tuesday, 6 February), Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, launched an EU-wide series of initiatives entitled #SaferInternet4EU at an event at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Representatives from a number of Safer Internet Centres (SICs) from across Europe were in attendance. SIMOOC: A joint MOOC for teachers in Austria, Germany and Luxembourg

A MOOC – massive open online course – is an online course with open access via the web. Saferinternet.at (part of the Austrian Safer Internet Centre), klicksafe (part of the German Safer Internet Centre), and BEE SECURE (part of the Luxembourgish Safer Internet Centre) have developed a free "Safer internet MOOC" in German. Called SIMOOC, it shows teachers how to use the internet safely in the classroom.
