Reduction in cyberbullying observed during lockdown in Latvia

Despite restrictions related to the COVID-19 lockdown, Latvian students have managed to adapt to distance learning, and their overall experience has been mostly positive, as shown in the results of a survey conducted in May 2020 by Telia Company in the Nordic and Baltic states. 1,000 students aged 10-18 were interviewed in Latvia in cooperation with Drossinternets.lv, the Latvian Safer Internet Centre (SIC).

"Caught in the net" Safer Internet Day event in Latvia

Latvian survey on parents' attitudes towards cyberbullying

In Latvia, the "Bite Your Finger" campaign is organised by the Latvian Safer Internet Centre (SIC), mobile operator BITE, the Latvian Child Helpline 116111, the State Inspectorate for Protection of Children's Rights and the state police. As part of this campaign, a survey was conducted in the country about parents' perceptions of cyberbullying and its consequences on the children victims of it.

Latvia – "Wify's Game" on online safety and media literacy

As part of the social campaign "Superheroes on the internet", the Latvian Safer Internet Centre (SIC) (Drossinternets.lv) has developed and issued "Wify's Game", which is the first board game presented to Latvian schools that covers many aspects of using the internet safely and smartly. "Wify's Game" is issued in 3,000 copies and is available to Latvian schools for free.
