Promoting positive online content across Europe

A good website or app can help to change a young person's life. It can help kids learn, develop and express themselves, while having fun at the same time. Equally, provision of such content and services can help to contribute to a better internet. To promote its creation and use, this week we launch the Positive Online Content Campaign with the release of a new website and an awareness-raising week to come.

Latest roundup from Parenting for a Digital Future

Over the summer, the team from Parenting for a Digital Future at the LSE released a policy brief about ‘screen time', arguing that many parents' fears of digital devices are based on out-dated advice. Together with the Media Policy Project, they held an invite-only event, which brought together researchers, policy-makers, advocates and content and platform providers to discuss what new advice to families about ‘screen time' should look like. The Latvian Safer Internet Centre, in cooperation with the largest Latvian social network Draugiem.lv, conducted a little experiment: they examined whether young people believe everything they read and see on the internet, and whether they verify the veracity and source of information before providing their contact information to unknown persons.
