European Commission and UNESCO launch #ThinkBeforeYouShare campaign

The coronavirus crisis has been accompanied by a wave of misinformation and disinformation online, including various conspiracy theories. To address this new challenge, the European Commission (EC) and UNESCO recently launched a set of ten pedagogical infographics helping citizens identify, debunk and counter conspiracy theories, as part of a joint awareness campaign titled #ThinkBeforeYouShare.

Reduction in cyberbullying observed during lockdown in Latvia

Despite restrictions related to the COVID-19 lockdown, Latvian students have managed to adapt to distance learning, and their overall experience has been mostly positive, as shown in the results of a survey conducted in May 2020 by Telia Company in the Nordic and Baltic states. 1,000 students aged 10-18 were interviewed in Latvia in cooperation with Drossinternets.lv, the Latvian Safer Internet Centre (SIC).

New Microsoft study reveals mixed online civility trends during COVID-19

Teenagers and adults in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region reported an uptick in online civility and more respectful digital interactions during the COVID-19 global pandemic, results from a new Microsoft research study show.
