"The second year class ‘F' participated in several activities promoted by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra, Italy. First, the students played a board game that enabled them to reflect in more depth on their digital behaviour. This provoked a lively discussion of issues and raised many questions. Then, a team of two students, a teacher and a parent participated in a day-long workshop at the JRC in Ispra. They tested all versions of the game, reflected on internet risks, and experimented with coding using Scratch.

"After the workshop, the students decided to make a short film on cyberbullying which they would then show to the whole school in the context of Safer Internet Day. They also decided to create posters with a Decalogue for safe internet navigation to be displayed in the school's buildings. They also created a mascot that symbolises their commitment to tackle online bullying.

"The short film deals with three situations that are common among teenagers. In one of these, two classmates harass a girl on WhatsApp. In another, a boy takes a video of a teacher and posts it on YouTube. In a third, a boy posts porn scenes on the class group. In all three cases, the students proposed correct solutions for the issues. They even studied these with the help of a superintendent of the Italian Police who have been working with them on cyberbullying.

"On 9 February, Safer Internet Day, the school is closed for holidays. Because of this, we will be screening the short film as soon as possible after the date. In the meantime, the students have prepared a very brief video to give an account of their experience with this cyberbullying prevention project."
