Polish Digital Youth Forum

On 12 May 2016, the first Digital Youth Forum (DYF) was held in Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, Poland. Nearly 400 young people met to exchange views and inspire themselves in the field of creative use of new technologies.

Among the speakers were people that owe their success and popularity to the internet and new technologies. Many of them are running their own YouTube channels, blogs and websites such as Cezary Ciszewski, director, journalist and author of documentaries filmed with a mobile phone, or Anna Alboth, author of the blog ‘Family without borders', recognised in 2015 as the most influential blog in Poland. There were also presentations on safety including one from Łukasz Wojtasik from the Empowering Children Foundation on the topic of sexting, and one from Rafał Jarząbek, author of the YouTube channel ‘With a good word'.

However, most important were the contributions from young DYF speakers, who - despite their young age - can boast pretty large achievements:
  • Karol Karczewski, founder and leader of Lime Devices, developer of projects in the areas of the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and smart things.
  • Amelia Gruszczyńska, activist and organiser of social events, charity and crowdfunding actions.
  • Aleksandra Jarocka and Kamila Gołdyka, co-founders of an initiative promoting the rights and power of girls.

DYF was organised by the Empowering Children Foundation. The Polish Safer Internet Centre plans to repeat the event annually.
