UNESCO hopes that the marking of 28 September as the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) will provide for more countries adopting FOI (freedom of information) legislation, developing policies for multilingualism and cultural diversity in cyberspace, and ensuring that women and men with disabilities are integrated. These steps will further strengthen progress towards the 2030 Development agenda and pave the way for the creation of knowledge societies worldwide. See the UNESCO website for further information. Here on the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) portal, we’ll be looking at issues regarding access to information in support of the day. Come back nearer the time to read more. And if you’re marking the day in some way linked to the Better Internet for Kids agenda, why not share an article with us - see our content contribution guidelines, or get in touch for more information.
