Safer Internet Day 2024 in Romania: parents' perspective on their children's online activities

Safer Internet Day 2024 stood out as a pivotal event in February, for the safer internet programme and the entire Save the Children organisation.  During the event, we released the latest findings of sociological research aimed at understanding parents' perspectives on their children's online activity. This research delved into parents' awareness of their children's internet usage and their familiarity with relevant software and applications.  

Safer Internet Day 2024 in Poland

The Polish Safer Internet Day conference was held at the Palladium Theatre in Warsaw on Tuesday, 6 February 2024. It was addressed to representatives of the educational sector, non-governmental organisations, and practitioners working with children.

Safer Internet Day 2024 in Latvia

On Safer Internet Day 2024, Latvian pupils from grades 10-12 participated in the nationwide online quiz "Mind Games" on various aspects of internet safety. 317 teams from different Latvian schools and regions took part in the quiz, competing to test their knowledge about digital literacy, cyber security and media literacy jointly exploring more on topics such as privacy risks as well as the importance of respectful online communication and relationships.

The rising importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy

As part of the #MediaSmartOnline campaign, aiming to spotlight media literacy actions across Europe and running in cooperation with the network of Safer Internet Centres (SICs) and the Media & Learning Association (MLA) within the framework of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) initiative, we are producing articles on a series of focus topics related to media literacy. This week, we’re diving into artificial intelligence.

Youth participation activities are at the heart of Better Internet for Kids (BIK) activities. Using co-creation methods, young people work together and with other stakeholders to develop online safety guidance, learning and campaign materials, and contribute to decision-making processes to help create a better internet.
