European Schoolnet and COVID-19 – Supporting the school community

In these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown measures, digital technologies and emergency remote teaching are playing a key role in meeting the needs of learners, teachers and families. European Schoolnet (EUN) and all its projects – among which the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) project, delivered on behalf of the European Commission, is one – are taking stock of the current situation and working hard to keep transforming education in Europe from home.

To support the school community in the sudden shift to emergency remote teaching and ensure pedagogical continuity until the lockdown measures are lifted, EUN has identified a set of relevant resources from current projects run by the organisation, such as the Future Classroom Lab (FCL), the European Schoolnet Academy, the EU Code Week, Scientix, eTwinning, School Education Gateway, Go-Lab and BIK. The full list of resources is detailed in an article on the EUN website, with many useful resources and platforms further described in the short video below:

On BIK, we'll be bringing you a range of articles and insights on the opportunities and challenges of being online during COVID-19 for the duration of the crisis. Keep checking the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) portal and follow our social channels on Twitter (@Insafenetwork and @SafeInternetDay) and Facebook (@SaferInternet and @SaferInternetDay) for the latest news, information, advice and resources from the Insafe network and from other stakeholder organisations on staying safe online during the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, for localised help and support in responding to some of the online challenges which COVID-19 might present, please do reach out to your national Safer Internet Centre (SIC) – find profile information and contact details on the BIK portal. In addition to a range of articles and resources in national languages, European Safer Internet Centres also provide helpline services allowing children and young people, and parents and carers, to access personalised advice and support.
