9 May was chosen as Europe Day as it marks the signing of the Schuman Declaration, which in 1950 created the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), the first of a series of steps that would ultimately lead to today's European Union. To celebrate Europe Day this year, EU institutions have planned a wide range of online and on-site activities for Saturday 7 May 2022 across the EU Member States, as well as in the home of the EU institutions in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg.
As 2022 has been declared the European Year of Youth, this upcoming Europe Day is the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on Europe’s children and young people, and to encourage European citizens to come together, discuss the challenges we are currently facing, and envision a better future for Europe.
Better Internet for Kids will be at the event organised at the European Commission with a dedicated stand, together with DG CNECT. We will highlight the continuing efforts of the joint Insafe-INHOPE network of Safer Internet Centres in ensuring a safer, better online experience for children and young people. Come find us to learn more about the BIK strategy, actions and resources, about Safer Internet Day (SID), and to have fun with online safety quizzes and other interactive activities from the network of SICs.
