ON-LINE ZOO, a new series of short stories about online safety

The resource catalogue of the CZ.NIC association has recently been expanded with the publication of a new digital series of short stories, ON-LINE ZOO - Poems. This collection of playful poems was created as an extension of the book ON-LINE ZOO, originally created by the Austrian Safer Internet Centre and translated into Czech, which introduces children of pre-school and earlier school grades to the most common risks associated with the use of the internet. The original texts were turned into poems by Libor Manda, project manager of the Czech Safer Internet Centre.

In this new resource, readers can look forward to five short stories in which animal friends have to face the pitfalls of cyberbullying, grooming, and other online safety issues. The Director of the zoo, Eliška, comes to their rescue. She advises them on how to solve the issues, explains where mistakes were made, and gives tips on how to prevent such situations from happening in the future. The depicted scenarios introduce the animal friends to the basics of safe behaviour on the internet, which has nowadays become a necessity.

Parents and carers, teachers and educators, and children can find this latest digital resource, created thanks to co-financing by the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility, at knihy.nic.cz.

Exploring misinformation for a young generation of voters: insights from the Fighting Misinformation Online Google summit

The Google summit on Fighting Misinformation online took place in Brussels on Thursday, 21 March 2024.  The event served as an opportunity to reflect on emerging disinformation trends and media literacy challenges moving forward, and especially in the context of the upcoming European elections, followed by other crucial elections in the United States and India later in the year.
