A multitude of challenges for users
Although media and digital technologies offer many benefits, they are also the source of many challenges for users. Studies have shown that the consumption of ICT affects users and can interfere with social activities, distract from learning, trigger sleep problems, and trigger negative feelings such as emotional exhaustion and anxiety. People have been spending more and more time in front of screens, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the need to address personal media consumption has become more relevant for everyone.
An interactive and fun test
Users can now reflect on their own daily media consumption with the interactive test at www.superuser.lu (available in Luxembourgish and English). In addition, the website provides advice for a more conscious use of media outlets.
The differences in the way media and digital devices are used is illustrated by six characters, the so-called "superusers". Ink, Vox, Spectr, Dr Drone, Upload and Connecto all differ in their strengths, weaknesses and, most importantly, in their unique habits of everyday media consumption.
Reaching out to young people
Throughout the school year, a series of videos featuring well-known Luxembourgish personalities and other educational content will be shared across different social networks (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) to reach out to young people. Furthermore, as part of the BEE SECURE training sessions, young people are invited to participate in the test and reflect on their own media consumption.
Discover which ‘superuser’ you are and discover more about the campaign at www.superuser.lu.
