SIC+ programme: Pakistan - Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman)'s Secretariat, Government of Pakistan
About the organisation
The office of Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) of Pakistan (WM) has been established by virtue of the Establishment of the Office of Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) Order, 1983. It is a Human Rights Institution (HRI), vested with a mandate “to diagnose, investigate, redress and rectify an injustice done to a person through mal-administration” as well as to address the systemic issues. Taking cognizance of the increase in cybercrimes against children, a Task Force has been constituted for the prevention and control of cybercrimes through legal reforms and awareness raising.
Awareness raising
The Sub-Committee of the Task Force on 'Online child sexual abuse' developed a National Plan of Action for awareness raising across the country by means of a multi-pronged strategy including inter alia public awareness through print and electronic media, display of public service messages in public places including police stations; communication through religious clerics; sessions with the parliamentarians, key actors of the justice sector and journalists; including the subject in the curricula.

The Federal Investigation Agency is using the helpline for reporting of child sexual abuse content.
Hotline
