AWARENESS

Within the Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres (SICs), National Awareness Centres (NACs) focus on raising awareness and understanding of safer internet issues and emerging trends.

They run campaigns to empower children, young people, parents, carers and teachers with the skills, knowledge and strategies to stay safe online and take advantage of the opportunities that the internet and mobile technologies provide.

The network also works extensively with other stakeholders, such as the research community, industry and other NGOs, to extend the reach of key messages and awareness-raising actions.

Czech Republic – Online course for children on digital footprint

In September 2019, the Czech Safer Internet Centre (SIC), in cooperation with the National Cyber and Information Security Authority, launched an online course called "Digital Footprint", intended primarily for children aged 10-13. This interactive game focuses on online privacy and associated social phenomena such as personal data abuse, sexting, digital privacy or cyberbullying.

Italian Safer Internet Centre presents educational programmes at Fair Didacta Italy

Training for trainers on "Useful, creative and safe use of the internet by children" in Romania

In each edition of the BIK bulletin, we look at a topical issue – this September 2019, on the occasion of the Positive Online Content Awareness Month, we delve into positive online content: what it is, why it is necessary, how children (aged 0-12) can benefit from it, and how its production and mainstreaming can be facilitated to reach as many users as possible.
