Awareness centre


Awareness-raising activities start each year in February during the Safer Internet Day (SID) celebrations.

The peak comes during autumn when a new set of resources are usually introduced and made available to the main target groups – children, teachers, parents, social workers and LEA staff. Safer-online, the site which contains the repository of resources, is promoted a creative way.

The Czech internet helpline offers online, telephone and offline counselling services where children, youth and their parents can obtain advice on how to deal with harmful online contact such as grooming, harmful conduct such as cyberbullying and harmful content. In general, the helpline deals with a wide range of uncomfortable experiences related to people's use of online technologies.

The Czech internet hotline is a contact centre that receives online reports from the public on illegal and inappropriate internet content, such as child sexual abuse material, child prostitution, child trafficking, paedophilia, age-inappropriate content, racism, xenophobia, self-harm, and the incitement to violence and hatred.

Youth participation


The youth panel of the Czech National Safer Internet Centre includes young people from 12 to 18 years of age who advise on and are consulted about the activities prepared and executed by the SIC.

Key successes

The Czech Safer Internet Centre (SIC) started its activity in 2006. Now the SIC CZ is well recognised by professionals, stakeholders and the general public in Czechia for its professional work in the field of safer internet awareness raising, education of internet users, internet helpline and hotline services.

The Czech SIC is operated by the NCBI ( in partnership with the CZ.NIC association ( It gets regular support from the national public administration (Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Affairs), regional authorities (Municipality of Prague, Vysocina egion), industry (Alza, Aukro, Eset, Microsoft, UPC/Liberty Global) and academia (FIT CVUT, MUNI).
