SIC+ programme: Mexico - Fundación PAS

At Fundación PAS, we are dedicated to promoting a culture of prevention, attention, and reporting of child sexual abuse, with the aim of safeguarding the rights of girls, boys, and adolescents, both in physical and digital environments. As administrators of the Te Protejo México reporting line, we provide a virtual platform to report sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation, and other violations within digital environments to minors under 18 years old.

To turn this initiative into a tangible reality, we have developed a collective impact model in which we collaborate with international organisations, government, industry (including companies like Meta, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok), civil associations, businesses, and schools.

Our awareness-raising activities are permanent, and we address parents, teachers, children, adolescents and caregivers:

• Our approach is determined by awareness, prevention, reporting culture, helplines, and tools.
• An important part is always the content of digital civility; where we talk about the risks on the internet and all the tools that exist so that children and adolescents can be protected.
• One strategy we are building is to involve the Youth Council more in these tasks.

We work with on a daily basis with the helpline of the Citizen Security Council of the CDMX. Although this organisation is located in Mexico City, its work covers the entire country (https://consejociudadanomx.org). It hosts a trust line and chat service for children and adolescents, a national line against trafficking and sexual violence, a safe diversity line (LGBTTTIQA+), and it addresses issues of sextortion. In addition to providing psychological support and accompaniment, the Citizen Security Council also have a criminal team.

We currently discuss digital safety in our hotline reporting and advise parents to maintain safe online practices. We also run a campaign for Safer Internet Day (SID), discussing issues such as grooming, sexting, and parental controls.

Additionally, in observance of Safer Internet Day, we host an annual International Conference for a Digital World Free of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

Fundación PAS has established a Youth Council to amplify the voices of this generation, enabling us to innovate our content and raise awareness among teenagers across digital platforms. The Youth Council creates TikTok content to educate peers on digital civility and online safety. They also represent Fundación PAS in forums and conferences, advocating for the protection of children and adolescents in digital environments.
