AWARENESS

Within the Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres (SICs), National Awareness Centres (NACs) focus on raising awareness and understanding of safer internet issues and emerging trends.

They run campaigns to empower children, young people, parents, carers and teachers with the skills, knowledge and strategies to stay safe online and take advantage of the opportunities that the internet and mobile technologies provide.

The network also works extensively with other stakeholders, such as the research community, industry and other NGOs, to extend the reach of key messages and awareness-raising actions.

CodeX – Mission Secure: Enhancing children's privacy online

iSejf 2016 had a happy ending… despite being about Romeo and Juliet

The Czech iSejf 2016 competition has come to an end. For this year's edition, the topic was connected to the greatest playwright of all time – William Shakespeare. The Czech Safer Internet Centre (SIC) received several dozen entries connected to various plays and stories, created in a variety of formats. It was not easy to chose the best one but, in the end, the jury selected a winner.

Game Work – a workshop about design and production of video games with pupils in 5th grade

Children and youth are consumers of so many different technologies but rarely have the chance to have a closer look at what is behind the technology. In May 2015, a group of students from the IT University of Copenhagen Games Education, in collaboration with The Media Council for Children & Young People and the Danish Film Institute, held a workshop for a group of 5th graders, inviting the pupils to have a look behind the scenes of video games development.

International conference on child online safety

On Wednesday, 4 May 2016, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science (FFOS) of the University of Osijek, Croatia, organised an international conference on child online safety in cooperation with the Croatian Safer Internet Centre (Centra za Sigurniji Internet). The conference brought together different stakeholders as well as some international representatives of the joint Insafe-INHOPE network

Digital Muse Girl Tech Fest 2016

On Saturday, 30 April 2016, European Schoolnet attended the first edition of the Digital Muse Girl Tech Fest in celebration of International Girls in ICT Day. Organised by the Digital Leadership Institute, the event took place at the European School Brussels IV in Brussels, Belgium and aimed to inspire girls, aged 11-15, to explore the worlds of digital technology, science and arts.

Bulgarian youth debate the ‘pros and cons of sexy selfies'
