Through the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) agenda, the European Commission (EC), Safer Internet Centres (SICs) and other stakeholders work with teachers, educators and other professionals around Europe to enable them to equip children and young people with the digital and media literacy skills needed to use the digital environment in a responsible, respectful, critical and creative way. Safer Internet Day 2023 in Ireland: building respect and empathy online

This year marked the biggest ever Safer Internet Day in Ireland with almost 200,000 children and young people taking part in activities around the country to mark the occasion. Hundreds of events took place all over the country to celebrate #SID2023, and these are some of the highlights.

Malta celebrates successful Safer Internet Day campaign

Safer Internet Day is a global initiative that aims to promote safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile devices, especially among young people. The Maltese Safer Internet Centre, BeSmartOnline, was thrilled with the success they have achieved during this year's celebrations.

Greece raised awareness for a better internet on #SID2023

More than 30,000 students from all educational levels across the country participated in the festivities organised by the Greek Safer Internet Centre (SIC) for Safer Internet Day 2023 – and thousands more set up small celebrations in their classrooms with material provided by the Greek Safer Internet Centre, sending then their creations to the SIC.
